Laura Hernandez joined SEAL in 2013 after 13 years in the Oak Grove School District as a third, fifth, and sixth grade classroom teacher, and 6 years as a literacy coach for the district—working with teachers on refining their craft to meet the needs of all students. Ms. Hernandez’ entire career in education has taken place in Title 1 Schools with high levels of English Language Learners, and she is passionate about culturally-responsive teaching to ensure educational equity for all students. She completed her undergraduate work at St. Mary’s College, majoring in Liberal Studies with a minor in Child Development, and went on to receive her teaching credential as well as her Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration from San Jose State University.
