Pro Bono Legal Partnership
The Sobrato Family Foundation helps facilitate nonprofit capacity building in partnership with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, which provides pro bono legal assistance to many of our grantees. From the start of the program in 2003 through the close of 2016, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati had provided in-kind legal support to 85 grantees, contributing more than 48,021 hours of service.

Building a Strong and Vibrant Silicon Valley Community

 

Between the formation of the Sobrato Family Foundation in 1996 and the close of 2016, the Sobrato Foundation and the Sobrato Family Foundation had made contributions to more than 550 local agencies totaling more than $169M. This giving took the form of $96.2M in general operating support and strategic program cash grants, $61.5M in the value of in-kind leases and operating and capital support of the nonprofit centers, and more than $11.6M in special initiatives.

 

Combining the value of these foundation grants with more than $124.6M in individual family gifts and $85M in land and buildings donated directly to local nonprofits, the Sobratos’ cumulative community investments totaled nearly $379 million at the close of 2016. (Additional program investments in revolving affordable housing loans total $18M.)
