For almost 25 years, the Sobrato Family Foundation has focused on building opportunity in Silicon Valley. The Sobrato family has long held that quality education, career pathways, and essential human services are the key drivers of a thriving community. These values continue to guide their giving, leading to investments in numerous signature initiatives. For example, the Sobrato Early Academic Language (SEAL) program has impacted the lives of more than 50,000 students across more than 100 California schools and the Pathways for Success and 21st Century Education initiatives that have supported thousands of local youth in accessing career opportunities and has cultivated hundreds of local employment partnerships.
Since 1996, the Sobrato Family Foundation has invested more than $522 million in nonprofits serving the most vulnerable communities in Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Southern Alameda counties. In addition to the millions the Foundation grants each year in multi-year general operating and strategic program funds, we work to support a resilient, place-based nonprofit sector by investing more than $6M per year in office space to 73 nonprofits, as well as $2M in free conference facilities to hundreds of Bay Area nonprofits at three Sobrato Centers for Nonprofits located in Redwood Shores, San Jose, and Milpitas.
