Approach
We are part of a movement in California to ensure bilingual programs reach greater scale, so all Multilingual Learners (ML) have access to the educational opportunities they deserve in PreK-12th grade, through:
- Policy: Build on the policy wins to-date to unlock greater funding and ensure the state provides the leadership, guidance, and support for districts to implement well.
- Practice: Strengthen the field’s capacity to deliver good instruction to MLs in classrooms across the state, focusing on growing a bilingual teacher workforce.
- People: Mobilize parents and families to demand what’s best for their children and hold their leaders accountable to providing those supports.
Join Us
MLs are among the fastest-growing student populations in California and nationally. There are many ways to support this movement:
- Identify where MLs show up in your existing programmatic, research, and advocacy strategies.
- Learn the best practices for MLs by engaging experts, including practitioner leaders and organizations like SEAL that have decades of expertise in this area.
- Uplift the strengths of MLs and the power of multilingualism in your engagement and communications efforts.
- Join ML-focused statewide or regional collaboratives, such as the Central Valley Multilingual Consortium and the Consortium for Multilingual Learner Success in Los Angeles, to learn about opportunities to advance policies that invest in ML success.
