Position Overview

The Investment Operations Analyst supports the operational, analytical, and administrative needs of Sobrato Capital’s investment team.  Sobrato Capital’s $6 billion portfolio spans venture capital, buyout, opportunistic credit, public equities, and impact investments. This individual will be a critical member of our small investment team supporting the breadth of our activities.  The ideal candidate will possess a proactive, entrepreneurial attitude and be willing to roll up their sleeves to support the continued buildout of Sobrato Capital’s investment operations.  This position will provide broad exposure to world class managers investing in a variety of asset classes, as well as provide insight on investment processes, documentation, and procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities include

  • Ensuring the integrity of our legal files, processing amendments and consents.
  • Building ad hoc spreadsheets in support of our investment analysis.
  • Maintaining internal database of investment documentation by monitoring, downloading and organizing information provided by investment managers.
  • Managing dataroom access and document management for live due diligence processes.
  • Supporting on-going monitoring of investment portfolio by organizing and updating portfolio related information from investment team notes and quarterly manager communications.
  • Maintaining our impact investment portfolio database, updating performance and cash flows on a quarterly basis.
  • Collaborating with finance team and external consultants in tracking cash flows, quarterly reports and financials for impact investments.
  • Identifying and recommending process improvements to further streamline our efforts and build best practices.
  • Assisting in the preparation of Powerpoint presentations or dashboards for the family, the governance board and our investment committees.
  • Maintaining investment team research, contact, travel and other relevant tracking spreadsheets.
  • Scheduling meetings and travel for the investment team, and processing associated expense reports.
  • Responding to various tasks and ad hoc requests, such as technology evaluation and implementation projects.
  • Collaborating with external service providers on operational and administrative projects.

Experience and Requirements

  • Bachelors in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field. Experience with investment operations a plus.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, and Powerpoint.
  • Proven orientation to detail and excellent organization skills.
  • Team-oriented and organized, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and to deliver results in a collaborative and fast-moving culture.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Intellectually curious self-starter with a strong aptitude for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Strong desire to support the work of a mission-driven organization.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity and maturity.
